Introducing New Payment Option

Overview

Users on the crypto exchange platform CoinDCX can transfer funds through several methods, like regular bank transfer, pay by UPI apps, etc. However, these have recently posed a certain amount of concern among the app makers and the users.

Bank transfers can usually take 12-24 hours to be processed and charge a certain fee, while payment via UPI apps are most of the time unavailable due to high failure rates.

Hypothesis

By allowing users to pay through a quicker bank deposit option, called Quick Bank Transfer (QBT), with minimal to zero failure rate and zero fee, we aimed to decrease the count of users who drop out due to the aforementioned limitations.

Implementation

My target was to create content that is simple, concise, and provides value and information to the users, without causing too much cognitive overload. The user understands that we’re introducing them to a new payment method which is quicker and more efficient than the previous ones, and that’s all they need to know about how it works.

By giving reassurance with the amount of time it takes to process their funds, we’re alleviating concerns, giving them confidence that this payment feature is beneficial for them.

Along with creating product copy, I also worked on a how-to manual (link below) to explain to the user in detail the whole process in a step-by-step manner, and an additional script to explain the whole process in a video format (refer below).

Result

The introduction of the QBT payment option saw a 30% increase in user adoption within the first month, eventually improving their overall fund transfer experience on the app.
